Hillcrest Estate Pool & Outdoor Living Retreat
A Resort-Style Backyard Designed for Year-Round Living
Hillcrest Estate represents a complete luxury outdoor living transformation in Loveland, Ohio. Designed and built over seven months, this project blends custom pool construction, architectural outdoor structures, and high-end hardscaping into one cohesive, resort-style backyard retreat.
From the start, the vision was clear: create a space that felt like a private vacation destination—functional for entertaining large gatherings while remaining comfortable for everyday family use.
Custom Gunite Pool as the Centerpiece
At the heart of the design is a fully custom gunite swimming pool, built for long-term durability and visual impact. Clean lines and intentional placement anchor the backyard layout while maximizing usable patio space.
The pool’s scale complements the home’s architecture, creating a balanced focal point that feels integrated rather than added on. Designed for both recreation and relaxation, the pool connects seamlessly with the surrounding stamped patio and pavilion areas.
A custom-built outdoor fireplace anchors the patio space and adds warmth, ambiance, and architectural presence. This feature extends the backyard’s usability well beyond the summer months, allowing the space to function as a year-round retreat.
Positioned strategically within the layout, the fireplace creates an intimate gathering area while maintaining open sightlines to the pool and pavilion.
How a Seven-Month Build Comes Together
A project of this scale requires careful sequencing — excavation and grading, utility rough-ins, structural framing, gunite application, hardscape installation, and finish work all have to happen in the right order. Tepe Landscape & Design Group managed the full scope from initial design through final walkthrough, coordinating every trade and phase to keep the seven-month timeline on track.
The pool placement was determined first, since it dictates grading, drainage, and sight lines for the rest of the yard. From there, the pavilion was positioned to create a natural gathering area with direct pool access and a clear view of the property.
Stamped concrete was selected over pavers for the patio surfaces to create a cleaner, more continuous look across the large footprint. The pattern and color were chosen to complement both the home’s exterior materials and the natural stone veneer used on the fireplace and kitchen surround.
The result is a backyard that doesn’t feel like a collection of separate additions. It feels like one space, designed and built with a single vision.
