Landscaping Company in Bridgetown & Green Township, OH
Bridgetown sits at the geographic center of Green Township — Hamilton County’s most populous township and Cincinnati’s largest west side suburb. The terrain here is defined by the steep, wooded hillsides that kept this area rural well into the 1900s and the clay-heavy glacial till soils that come with them. Tepe Landscape & Design Group has provided professional landscape design and installation services across Cincinnati’s west side since 1980, and we understand the conditions that Bridgetown and Green Township properties present.
Our landscape design and installation work in Bridgetown addresses the realities of west side lots. Many homes here were built during the postwar suburban wave of the 1940s through 1970s, when Green Township’s population surged from 18,500 to over 50,000. Those properties now have aging landscapes — overgrown foundation plantings, cracked concrete patios, settled grading that sends water toward the house instead of away from it. We design renovations that solve drainage problems, replace dated plantings, and add the hardscape and outdoor living features today’s homeowners want: patios, retaining walls, fire features, pergolas, and defined entertaining areas. For newer construction in the township, we build full landscapes from the ground up on lots where the builder left nothing but sod and clay.
A properly designed lawn sprinkler and irrigation system is important on Bridgetown’s clay soils. Clay retains moisture near the surface after rain but crusts and cracks during dry stretches, creating a boom-and-bust cycle that stresses turf and plantings. We design zone-specific systems with smart controllers and rain sensors that deliver water based on actual soil conditions — less frequent, deeper watering that encourages root development rather than shallow surface saturation.

Featured Projects
Bridgetown was settled around 1820 by the Fithian and Shepard families, who traveled west from Bridgeton, New Jersey, opened a sawmill, and established the small crossroads village that still bears their hometown’s name. Green Township itself was formed in 1809, named for Revolutionary War general Nathanael Greene, and for most of the 1800s it was farmland — over 500 farms as late as 1920. The steep hillsides surrounding the Millcreek Valley kept the area isolated until the streetcar and then the Western Hills Viaduct opened access to Cincinnati in the 1930s.
Green Township’s communities — Bridgetown, Mack, Dent, Monfort Heights, White Oak, and Covedale — are unincorporated neighborhoods rather than cities, each with its own identity but all served by the township. The Oak Hills Local School District, including Oakdale Elementary, Bridgetown Middle School, and Oak Hills High School, serves the Bridgetown core. Bicentennial Park and Kuliga Park provide green space with trails, playgrounds, and sports fields. The Five Points intersection at Bridgetown, Ebenezer, and Taylor roads marks the heart of neighboring Mack — named, as the story goes, for the hound dog of the general store operator who ran the post office.
